How to Choose the Right Sawmilled Lumber

Carefully Dried & Packaged

 For Tables & Furniture:

  • Use 8/4 walnut, white oak, or curly maple for strength and visual appeal
  • Consider bookmatched walnut slabs or wide sawn boards for seamless tabletops
  • Choose kiln-dried wood to avoid warping or cracking post-build

 For Cabinetry & Millwork:

  • 4/4 and 6/4 red oak, poplar, or sycamore are easy to work and finish
  • Ambrosia maple adds a distinctive look to modern cabinetry

 For Epoxy Projects:

  • Ambrosia maple, black walnut, or hickory with interesting grain and edge shape
  • Make sure lumber is fully dried (below 12% moisture) for proper epoxy bonding
